Question: Is your job in life monitoring Fortune-100 spin on carefully selected world events, 24/7?

No?!! Weird. Well…
Corporate news might not be for you.

There are over 8.2 billion people.

Fewer than 1%–2% have any direct relationship to most front-page news and political coverage. Most mainstream headlines and articles are reminiscent of Orwell’s “1984” — carefully managing how we see reality. Providing a very narrow band of acceptable debate. Very little in depth reporting with subject-matter experts.

Social media platforms carefully curate what we see, and who sees us with zero transparency or control over algorithms.

So not only are we left with little useful information, but lacking the basic tools we need for participating in the affairs of communitieis . And that is what politics actually means. It’s not rival factions competing PR campaigns. That’s the 1984 version.

The word politics means “the affairs of cities”. And as described by Plato and Aristotle, the wellbeing of a city reflects the wellbeing of its citizens. This is what it means to say that politics is self-care. And wellness is political.

This section of the Survivor Guide to Earth is a collection of practical tools and resources reclaiming the affairs of our cities — as reflections of ourselves. New updates every 60 to 90 days. We’ll keep you posted!
