We Are Biased
Our agenda is our mission. The purpose of this film and project is to:
-
Celebrate “Humanitas” - the qualities of ethics, empathy, and progress.
Infuse our lives with a clear sense of purpose by elevating our shared humanity over short-term material gains.
Divest from what MLK called the “triple evils” of militarism, classism and racism.
Experience the overview effect: The cognitive shift when viewing Earth from space, leading to a sense of wonder, fragility, mortality, and interconnectedness.
-
Recognize our interconnectedness and shared history.
Prioritize universal obligations and well-being over sectarian dominance or nationalism.
Prioritize Community Support: Investing in schools, medical care, elder care, and community support for a stronger society.
Redesign Education: Creating educational systems that empower individual talents, inspire intergenerational community, and foster creativity.
Repair community: Providing reparations for survivors and descendants of collective trauma.
Dispel myths of east vs west.
Counter Islamophobia and xenophobia.
Raise awareness of the universal values and brilliance of all our great traditions from Islam, to Christianity, Hinduism, secular ethics, Confucius, Buddhism, Judaism, indigenous communities, and many others.
Prioritize Local Communities with global support and interconnection.
Problem-solve with city planning, urban design, individualized education models, and healthy food systems.
-
Declaring a climate emergency, rapidly phasing out fossil fuels, and radically changing energy policies to address the ongoing atmospheric crisis.
Demilitarization: The U.S. Department of Defense, one of the world’s largest consumers of fossil fuels, biggest drains on public funds, and most powerful political influencers, fuels a self-perpetuating cycle by using military force to secure more oil resources, driving global instability and environmental destruction.
Addressing Environmental Toxicity: Combating environmental toxicity to ensure a healthier planet.
Healthy Food Access: Promoting the production and access to healthy food.
Phasing Out Driver-Operated Cars: Transitioning away from the number one contributor to climate change - fossil fueled cars which have caused additional climate chaos by terraforming the earth with concrete.
-
Abolish Big Money in Politics: Eliminating corporate domination and conflicts of interest from public office to ensure fair governance.
Dismantle Monopoly Control over markets: Reducing corporate control, breaking up monopolies, to unlock innovation and competition. All our major industries, from finance, military, energy, tech, health care, food, to real estate, must be regulated by public representatives without conflicts of interest.
Promote Economic Systems that Incentivize Meaningful Work, like publicly funded creative and innovation programs, work-owned cooperatives, benefit corporations, social enterprises, employee stock ownership plans, and “new deal” guaranteed pubic service jobs.
Provide a Universal Basic Income for all humans, following Thomas Paine and Martin Luther King’s vision.
Promote Social Democracy: Advocating for natural economic liberty as outlined in FDR’s second bill of rights.
-
Enforce a Digital Bill of Rights: Securing individual freedom, ensuring ethical accountability, and inspiring innovation.
Establish Ethical Science and Technology guidelines: Ensuring science and technology serve ethical purposes.
Limit Advertising in public spaces, public media, and the digital commons.
